FAQ

It all started with a PhD study from Aarhus University, Denmark. PhD Kim Steen researched the use of processing of signals and pattern recognition in order to develop systems that would be able to solve problems with harmful birds.

The effect of BirdAlert® is well-documented. For further information:

You can read an article about a case study from the UK here: https://wilddetect.com/en/birdalert-uk-based-case-study/

You can watch a video about how BirdAlert® helped the citizens in Weilheim, Germany against rooks: https://wilddetect.com/en/birdalert-aids-the-people-in-weilheim-in-the-war-against-rooks/ (Note the video is in German)

BirdAlert® can scare away the following bird species: Gulls, geese, rooks, and starlings.

No. The BirdAlert® is designed to only scare birds it has been calibrated to deter and not harm them.

You can purchase BirdAlert® by contacting our distributors. You can find a list of our distributors here https://wilddetect.com/en/get-birdalert/

BirdAlert® continuously listens for injurious species of birds. When the birds come within the range of the BirdAlert®’s 250-meter radius. The system immediately launches species-specific stimuli to create an optimal scare-off effect. The box controls up to five Scare Tools created for the issue at hand. BirdAlert® radically improves the effect of any connected tool. The BirdAlert® can be controlled and monitored through our free Web App.

Start by checking that the BirdAlert® is turned on and connected to the internet. Go to “Overview” → Click on the name of the device you want to check → Click on “System info” → Click on “Check connection”. Always remember to click “save” when you make changes in the Web App.

If your BirdAlert® is not connected to the internet you can use this hotspot guide on how to use your phone’s internet connection on your BirdAlert®.

If your BirdAlert® still does not work, please contact WildDetect: contact@wilddetect.com

BirdAlert® can be used in various settings, including: industrial and agricultural areas; on flat roofs; larger production or warehouse sites (i.e., windmills); on the roofs of apartment buildings; and harbors. For further details see https://wilddetect.com/en/solutions/

BirdAlert® is not recommended in private gardens within close proximity of neighbors as it emits loud noises.

The BirdAlert®’s Microphone has a range of 250-meter radius.

It is not only a matter of distance, but also a matter of line of sight. The sound needs to be able to travel to the microphone. If you, for example, have firewalls on top of a building and place a BirdAlert® on one side of the firewall, sounds from the opposite side will not be able to reach the BirdAlert®’s Microphone.

BirdAlert® can be placed in industrial and agricultural areas, on flat roofs, larger production or warehouse sites (i.e., windmills), on the roofs of apartment buildings, and harbors.

Start by checking that the Microphone is plugged in correctly to your BirdAlert®, and that your BirdAlert® is not sleeping. You check that in the Web App.

Then check that the cord has not been pinched. If the cord has been pinched, you will need to get a new one. Please contact WildDetect: contact@wilddetect.com
